[Edit profiles] Window

The [Edit profiles] window of ScanSnap Home is the window in which you can modify the settings for a selected profile, change the order of profiles in the profile list, or delete a profile.

This section explains the setting items which are available when a local folder or network folder is the save destination for scanned images. One of the local folders is a folder that is synchronized with a cloud service.

Profile list (1)

Displays profiles available for the connected ScanSnap.

Select a profile to modify, copy, or delete the settings.

The profiles provided in ScanSnap Home by default vary depending on the region where the ScanSnap is used. For details, refer to What is a Profile?.

You can change the order of profiles in the profile list by selecting a profile and dragging it to the left or right.

Profile name
Icon (2)

Displays the profile icon of the selected profile.

In the [Icon selection] window that appears when you click an icon, you can change the icon to the icon that you select.

Profile name (3)

A profile name is displayed here. To change the profile name, click the profile name.

Description (4)

Displays the description of the selected profile. Click the description to modify it.

Document type detection

Used to set whether to automatically detect the type of scanned document according to each document to be scanned or fix the type of the scanned document.

The following types of scanned documents can be set.

  • Automatically detects the document type as "Documents", "Business Cards", "Receipts", or "Photos" and scans the document with the appropriate scan settings

    Automatically detects the document type of an image ("Documents", "Business Cards", "Receipts" or "Photos") based on the features of a scanned document, such as paper size or character information.

  • All sheets will be scanned as documents

  • All sheets will be scanned as business cards

  • All sheets will be scanned as receipts

  • All sheets will be scanned as photos

When [Automatically detects the document type as "Documents", "Business Cards", "Receipts", or "Photos" and scans the document with the appropriate scan settings] is selected for [Document type detection], a tab for a document type can be selected. By switching tabs, you can specify the scan settings for each document type.

The items that can be changed in the scan settings are as follows:

When the document type is [Documents], [Business Cards], or [Receipts]

  • Scanning side

  • Image quality

  • Rotation

  • File format

  • Title or File name

  • Detailed settings

Color mode
When the document type is [Documents], [Business Cards], or [Receipts]

Displays the selected color setting.

The setting has an affect on [Color mode] in the [Scan] tab of the [Detailed settings] window.

The following settings are available.

  • Automatic

    Automatically detects the color of each document and scans in color, gray, or black and white.

  • Color

    Always saves the scanned image in color.

  • Gray

    Always saves the scanned image in gray.

  • B & W

    Always saves the scanned image in black and white.

    Suitable for scanning black and white documents that only contain text.

When the document type is [Photos]

You can specify the color mode for scanning documents in [Color mode] on the [Scan] tab in the [Detailed settings] window that is displayed when you click the [Detailed settings] button.

 

Image settings

Appears when the document type is [Photos].

The colors in photos are adjusted only when color photos are scanned.

  • The following models support the color adjusting function in [Image settings].

[Auto Enhancement] checkbox

Selecting this checkbox adjusts the contrast of a photo giving it more color.

[Red Eye Correction] checkbox

Selecting this checkbox detects the face of a person and removes the red-eye effect in a photo.

[Fading Correction] checkbox

Selecting this checkbox corrects a photo that has faded colors giving it more color.

Scanning side

Displays the selected scanning side.

The setting has an affect on [Scanning side] in the [Scan] tab of the [Detailed settings] window.

The following settings are available.

  • Duplex

    Scans both sides of a document.

    When a document type is "Business Cards", scan the front side and then the back side of a business card to make the scanned images of both sides of the business card into a single content data record.

    When a document type is "Documents", "Receipts", or "Photos", [Duplex] cannot be selected.

  • Simplex

    Scans only one side of a document.

Image quality
When the document type is [Documents], [Business Cards], or [Receipts]

Displays the selected image quality (resolution).

Scanning speeds vary depending on the image quality.

For details, refer to Specifications of the ScanSnap.

The setting has an affect on [Image quality] in the [Scan] tab of the [Detailed settings] window.

The following settings are available.

  • Automatic

    Scans documents at an optimal resolution according to the paper size of the documents.

    The image quality is determined based on the length of the short side of the document.

    • When the short side is longer than 115 mm: Better

    • When the short side is 115 mm or shorter: Best

  • Normal

    A scan is performed at a resolution of 150 dpi when [Color mode setting] is set to color or gray, and 300 dpi when it is set to black and white.

  • Better

    A scan is performed at a resolution of 200 dpi when [Color mode setting] is set to color or gray, and 400 dpi when it is set to black and white.

  • Best

    A scan is performed at a resolution of 300 dpi when [Color mode setting] is set to color or gray, and 600 dpi when it is set to black and white.

  • Excellent

    A scan is performed at a resolution of 600 dpi when [Color mode setting] is set to color or gray, and 1200 dpi when it is set to black and white.

    Selecting [Excellent] may slow down the speed of scanning documents depending on your system environment.

    If the automatic detection for document types is enabled with [Excellent] selected for the image quality level in the scan settings for one of the document types among the four ("Documents", "Business Cards", "Receipts" or "Photos"), the scanning speed slows down regardless of which document type it is.

When the document type is [Photos]

You can specify the image quality (resolution) for scanning documents in [Image quality] on the [Scan] tab in the [Detailed settings] window that is displayed when you click the [Detailed settings] button.

 

Rotation

Displays the rotation method that is currently selected.

The setting has an affect on [Rotation] in the [Scan] tab of the [Detailed settings] window.

The following settings are available.

  • Do not rotate

    Does not rotate the image.

  • Automatic

    Appears when the document type is [Documents], [Business Cards], or [Receipts].

    Automatically rotates the image when you scan a document sideways or upside down.

    Since this option determines the page orientation based on the character strings printed on the document, select an option other than [Automatic] when scanning the following documents.

    • Documents with many extremely large or small characters

    • Documents on which pitches between lines or characters are extremely narrow, or characters are overlapped

    • Documents with many characters contacting underlines or borders

    • Documents with many photographs or figures and few characters

    • Documents with characters on an unevenly colored background such as shaded characters.

    • Documents with many decorated characters such as embossed or outlined characters

    • Documents with characters on a patterned background such as characters overlapping illustrations or diagrams

    • Documents with characters printed in various directions such as drawings

    • Documents written using only capital letters

    • Documents with handwritten characters

    • Skewed documents

    • Documents with complex layouts

    • Documents with a large amount of image noise

    • Documents with faint characters

    • Documents with faded characters

  • [Automatic (by face detection)]

    Appears when the document type is [Photos].

    Automatically rotates the image when you scan a photo sideways or upside down.

    Images are rotated in accordance with the way the face of a person in a photo is orientated. If a photo is not of a person such as a landscape photo, images will not be rotated.

  • Rotate 90° CW/Rotate 180°/Rotate 90° CCW

    Rotates the image to the specified angle.

    When [Duplex] is selected for [Scanning side], you can specify which way to rotate the front and back scanned images of a document respectively.

File format
When the document type is [Documents], [Business Cards], or [Receipts]

Displays the file format of a scanned image.

The setting has an affect on [File format] in the [File format] tab of the [Detailed settings] window.

The following settings are available.

  • PDF (*.pdf)

    Saves a scanned image in a PDF format (*.pdf).

  • JPEG (*.jpg)

    Saves a scanned image in a JPEG format (*.jpg).

    When multiple documents are scanned, multiple scanned images in a JPEG format are saved as a single multi-page image.

[Option] button

Click this to display the [PDF file option] Window.

When [JPEG (*.jpg)] is selected in [File format], this button is disabled.

When the document type is [Photos]

You can specify the file format of a scanned image in the [File format] tab in the [Detailed settings] window that is displayed when you click the [Detailed settings] button.

 

Title
When the document type is [Documents], [Business Cards], or [Receipts]

This is displayed when [PC (Manage in ScanSnap Home)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options].

Displays the format of the title that is set.

Click this to display the [Title] tab in the [Detailed settings] Window, and set the details of the title.

When the document type is [Photos]

When [PC (Manage in ScanSnap Home)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options], you can specify the details of the content data record title which is displayed in the main window of ScanSnap Home.

You can specify the details of the title in the [Title] tab in the [Detailed settings] window that is displayed when you click the [Detailed settings] button.

 

File name
When the document type is [Documents], [Business Cards], or [Receipts]

This is displayed when [PC (Scan to file)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options].

Displays the format of the file name that is set.

Click this to display the [File name] tab in the [Detailed settings] window, and set the details of the file name.

When the document type is [Photos]

When [PC (Scan to file)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options], you can specify the details of the content data record title which is displayed in the main window of ScanSnap Home.

You can specify the details of the title in the [File name] tab in the [Detailed settings] window that is displayed when you click the [Detailed settings] button.

 

[Detailed settings] button

Click this button to display the [Detailed settings] window.

You can specify the details about the following scan settings in the [Detailed settings] window.

  • Title or File name

  • File format

  • Scan

  • File size

Feed

Displays the feeding method that is selected now.

The setting has an affect on [Feed] in the [Feed option] window.

The following settings are available.

  • Normal scan

    Scanning automatically finishes when all of the documents loaded in the ScanSnap are scanned.

    Scanning automatically finishes when all of the documents loaded in the ScanSnap are scanned.

    Scanning automatically finishes when all of the documents loaded in the ScanSnap are scanned.

  • Continuous scan

    Scans documents continuously in multiple batches.

    Select this feeding method to scan documents more than the amount that can be loaded in the ADF paper chute (cover) on the ScanSnap.

    HINT
    • Every time the scanning of documents that are loaded in the ADF paper chute (cover) on the ScanSnap is complete, you can change the feeding method.

      To scan the following types of documents, press the feed mode setting icon in the screen for checking whether to continue a scan, and change the feed mode setting to [Manual scan].

      • Documents folded in half

      • Envelopes

      • Documents with sticky notes attached

      • Documents with multiple sheets overlapped such as transfer paper

      • Long page documents such as long receipts

      • Plastic cards

  • Manual scan

    Scans documents that are loaded one sheet at a time.

    Select this feeding method to scan documents that can be damaged quite easily such as photographs, documents with overlapped areas such as envelopes, or large documents (larger than A4/Letter size) folded in half.

[Option] button

Click this to display the [Feed option] Window.

You can specify the details about the feeding method for documents in the [Feed option] window.

Feed mode setting

Displays the feeding method that is selected now.

The setting has an affect on [Feed] in the [Feed option] window.

The following settings are available.

ADF
  • Normal scan

    Scanning automatically finishes when all of the documents loaded in the ADF paper chute (cover) on the ScanSnap are scanned.

  • Continuous scan

    Scans documents continuously in multiple batches.

    Select this feeding method to scan documents more than the amount that can be loaded in the ADF paper chute (cover) on the ScanSnap.

    If you scan documents after the first scan, you can use the ADF paper chute (cover) or the manual feeder for scanning.

[Option] button

Click this to display the [ADF] tab in the [Feed option] Window.

You can specify the details about the feeding method for documents in the [Feed option] window.

Manual Feeder
  • Normal scan

    Scanning automatically finishes when a document inserted into the manual feeder of the ScanSnap is scanned.

  • Continuous scan

    Scans documents continuously in multiple batches.

    If you scan documents after the first scan, you can use the ADF paper chute (cover) or the manual feeder for scanning.

[Option] button

Click this to display the [Manual Feeder] tab in the [Feed option] Window.

You can specify the details about the feeding method for documents in the [Feed option] window.

Managing options
Type

Displays a save destination for scanned images.

The following settings are available.

  • PC (Manage in ScanSnap Home)

    Images and meta information created from the documents that you scanned are managed in ScanSnap Home as content data records.

    The content data records are displayed in the content data record list view on the main window.

  • PC (Scan to file)

    Images created from the documents that you scanned are saved as a file. Because these images are not managed in ScanSnap Home, these are not displayed in the content data record list view on the main window. To check a scanned image, open the folder specified for the save destination in File Explorer.

    Select the checkbox if you do not want to keep information of documents that you scanned with the ScanSnap in ScanSnap Home and if you want to use a scanned image in an application or in a service other than ScanSnap Home.

  • Cloud

    For the items that are displayed when [Cloud] is selected, refer to [Add new profile] Window (When Using ScanSnap Cloud).

Tag

This is displayed when [PC (Manage in ScanSnap Home)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options].

Displays the tags that are set. Up to 10 tags can be set for one profile.

Setting tags enables you to sort and display content data records by tag with [Tag] in the folder list view on the main window.

  • To add a tag

    Enter a new tag in the input field that is displayed by clicking [Add a tag], and then press the [Enter] key on the keyboard.

    While you are entering a tag, a tag that is set for a profile or a tag that is set for a content data record may be displayed as a tag suggestion.

  • To delete a tag

    Click Delete Tag for a tag to be deleted.

Save to

Displays a path of the save destination where scanned images are to be saved.

Click the [Browse] button to change the save destination.

You can save scanned images in a cloud service by using a client application sync folder for the cloud service as the save destination.

Cloud services that you can establish a link with are as follows:

  • Dropbox

  • Google Drive

  • OneDrive

[Save scanned images with new file names after scanning] checkbox

This is displayed when [PC (Scan to file)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options].

If this checkbox is selected, the window for specifying a save destination of an image file and a file name appears after scanning a document so that you can save the image with a file name of your choice.

However, if the either of following options are set for [Send to] in [Application], this checkbox is disabled.

  • Scan to Folder

  • An application added by a user that can be linked with business card data

Application
Send to

Displays the selected application.

The following settings are available.

  • None (Scan to file)

    You can save an image in a folder without starting up any application.

  • Show with ScanSnap Home

    Starts up ScanSnap Home so that you can check content data records created from the documents that you scanned.

    This is displayed when [PC (Manage in ScanSnap Home)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options].

  • Show with File Explorer

    Starts up File Explorer so that you can check images created from the documents that you scanned.

    This is displayed when [PC (Scan to file)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options].

  • Quick Menu

    You can select an application to perform a particular action in the Quick Menu which is displayed after scanning documents.

  • Scan to Folder

    You can save image files in a specified folder.

    Files can be shared if they are saved onto a network folder.

    In the [Scan to Folder] Window that is displayed after a document is scanned, you can use Preview to check an image in order to change the orientation of pages, remove unnecessary pages, or display the viewer window to edit the image before saving it.

  • Send e-mail

    You can attach image files to an e-mail.

    In the [Scan to Email] Window that is displayed after a document is scanned, you can use Preview to check an image in order to change the orientation of pages, remove unnecessary pages, or display the viewer window to edit the image before attaching it to an e-mail.

  • Scan to Print

    Scanned images can be printed with a printer.

    In the [Scan to Print] window that is displayed after a document is scanned, you can use Preview to check an image in order to change the orientation of pages, remove unnecessary pages, or display the viewer window to edit the image before printing it.

  • Scan to Word

    You can convert an image that is in a PDF format into a Word file.

    This is displayed when ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap is installed.

    You can configure the settings such as the language of text to be recognized and settings for operations after the conversion in the setting window for the application that appears when you click the [Set] button.

    For details about the setting window for the application, refer to the ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap User's Guide.

  • Scan to Excel

    You can convert an image that is in a PDF format into an Excel file.

    This is displayed when ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap is installed.

    You can configure the settings such as the language of text to be recognized and settings for operations after the conversion in the setting window for the application that appears when you click the [Set] button.

    For details about the setting window for the application, refer to the ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap User's Guide.

  • Scan to PowerPoint(R)

    You can convert an image that is in a PDF format into a PowerPoint file.

    This is displayed when ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap is installed.

    You can configure the settings such as the language of text to be recognized and settings for operations after the conversion in the setting window for the application that appears when you click the [Set] button.

    For details about the setting window for the application, refer to the ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap User's Guide.

  • ABBYY Scan to Searchable PDF

    You can convert an image that is in a PDF format into a searchable PDF.

    This is displayed when ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap is installed.

    You can configure the settings such as the language of text to be recognized and settings for operations after the conversion in the setting window for the application that appears when you click the [Set] button.

    For details about the setting window for the application, refer to the ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap User's Guide.

  • Dropbox

    You can save image files in Dropbox.

  • Evernote

    You can save image files in Evernote.

  • Google Drive

    You can save image files in Google Drive.

  • OneDrive

    You can save image files in OneDrive.

  • Acrobat(R)

    Acrobat starts up, and the image created from the document that you scanned is displayed.

  • Acrobat(R) Reader(R)

    Acrobat Reader starts up, and the image created from the document that you scanned is displayed.

  • Power PDF

    If Kofax Power PDF Standard or Nuance Power PDF Standard is installed, the one installed will start up, and the image created from the document that you scanned is displayed.

  • Add or Remove

    An application of your choice can be added to or removed from the applications that you want to run.

[Set] button

Displays the setting window for the selected application.

When an application that does not have any setting item is selected, the [Set] button is disabled.

[Save] button

Updates the settings for the profile and synchronizes with the connected ScanSnap to close the window.

[Cancel] button

Closes the window without updating the settings for the profile.

    Since this option determines the page orientation based on the character strings printed on the document, select an option other than [Automatic] when scanning the following documents.

    • Documents with many extremely large or small characters

    • Documents on which pitches between lines or characters are extremely narrow, or characters are overlapped

    • Documents with many characters contacting underlines or borders

    • Documents with many photographs or figures and few characters

    • Documents with characters on an unevenly colored background such as shaded characters.

    • Documents with many decorated characters such as embossed or outlined characters

    • Documents with characters on a patterned background such as characters overlapping illustrations or diagrams

    • Documents with characters printed in various directions such as drawings

    • Documents written using only capital letters

    • Documents with handwritten characters

    • Skewed documents

    • Documents with complex layouts

    • Documents with a large amount of image noise

    • Documents with faint characters

    • Documents with faded characters

  • [Automatic (by face detection)]

    Appears when the document type is [Photos].

    Automatically rotates the image when you scan a photo sideways or upside down.

    Images are rotated in accordance with the way the face of a person in a photo is orientated. If a photo is not of a person such as a landscape photo, images will not be rotated.

  • Rotate 90° CW/Rotate 180°/Rotate 90° CCW

    Rotates the image to the specified angle.

    When [Duplex] is selected for [Scanning side], you can specify which way to rotate the front and back scanned images of a document respectively.

When the document type is [Documents], [Business Cards], or [Receipts]

Displays the file format of a scanned image.

The setting has an affect on [File format] in the [File format] tab of the [Detailed settings] window.

The following settings are available.

  • PDF (*.pdf)

    Saves a scanned image in a PDF format (*.pdf).

  • JPEG (*.jpg)

    Saves a scanned image in a JPEG format (*.jpg).

    When multiple documents are scanned, multiple scanned images in a JPEG format are saved as a single multi-page image.

[Option] button

Click this to display the [PDF file option] Window.

When [JPEG (*.jpg)] is selected in [File format], this button is disabled.

When the document type is [Photos]

You can specify the file format of a scanned image in the [File format] tab in the [Detailed settings] window that is displayed when you click the [Detailed settings] button.

 

Title
When the document type is [Documents], [Business Cards], or [Receipts]

This is displayed when [Mac (Manage in ScanSnap Home)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options].

Displays the format of the title that is set.

Click this to display the [Title] tab in the [Detailed settings] Window, and set the details of the title.

When the document type is [Photos]

When [Mac (Manage in ScanSnap Home)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options], you can specify the details of the content data record title which is displayed in the main window of ScanSnap Home.

You can specify the details of the title in the [Title] tab in the [Detailed settings] window that is displayed when you click the [Detailed settings] button.

 

File name
When the document type is [Documents], [Business Cards], or [Receipts]

This is displayed when [Mac (Scan to file)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options].

Displays the format of the file name that is set.

Click this to display the [File name] tab in the [Detailed settings] window, and set the details of the file name.

When the document type is [Photos]

When [Mac (Scan to file)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options], you can specify the details of the content data record title which is displayed in the main window of ScanSnap Home.

You can specify the details of the title in the [File name] tab in the [Detailed settings] window that is displayed when you click the [Detailed settings] button.

Click this button to display the [Detailed settings] window.

You can specify the details about the following scan settings in the [Detailed settings] window.

  • Title or File name

  • File format

  • Scan

  • File size

Feed

Displays the feeding method that is selected now.

The setting has an affect on [Feed] in the [Feed option] window.

The following settings are available.

  • Normal scan

    Scanning automatically finishes when all of the documents loaded in the ScanSnap are scanned.

    Scanning automatically finishes when all of the documents loaded in the ScanSnap are scanned.

    Scanning automatically finishes when all of the documents loaded in the ScanSnap are scanned.

  • Continuous scan

    Scans documents continuously in multiple batches.

    Select this feeding method to scan documents more than the amount that can be loaded in the ADF paper chute (cover) on the ScanSnap.

    HINT
    • Every time the scanning of documents that are loaded in the ADF paper chute (cover) on the ScanSnap is complete, you can change the feeding method.

      To scan the following types of documents, press the feed mode setting icon in the screen for checking whether to continue a scan, and change the feed mode setting to [Manual scan].

      • Documents folded in half

      • Envelopes

      • Documents with sticky notes attached

      • Documents with multiple sheets overlapped such as transfer paper

      • Long page documents such as long receipts

      • Plastic cards

  • Manual scan

    Scans documents that are loaded one sheet at a time.

    Select this feeding method to scan documents that can be damaged quite easily such as photographs, documents with overlapped areas such as envelopes, or large documents (larger than A4/Letter size) folded in half.

Displays the feeding method that is selected now.

ADF

    If you scan documents after the first scan, you can use the ADF paper chute (cover) or the manual feeder for scanning.

Manual Feeder
  • Normal scan

    Scanning automatically finishes when a document inserted into the manual feeder of the ScanSnap is scanned.

    If you scan documents after the first scan, you can use the ADF paper chute (cover) or the manual feeder for scanning.

[Option] button

Click this to display the [Manual Feeder] tab in the [Feed option] Window.

You can specify the details about the feeding method for documents in the [Feed option] window.

Managing options
Type

Displays a save destination for scanned images.

The following settings are available.

  • Mac (Manage in ScanSnap Home)

    Images and meta information created from the documents that you scanned are managed in ScanSnap Home as content data records.

    The content data records are displayed in the content data record list view on the main window.

  • Mac (Scan to file)

    Images created from the documents that you scanned are saved as a file. Because these images are not managed in ScanSnap Home, these are not displayed in the content data record list view on the main window. To check a scanned image, open the folder specified for the save destination in Finder.

    Select the checkbox if you do not want to keep information of documents that you scanned with the ScanSnap in ScanSnap Home and if you want to use a scanned image in an application or in a service other than ScanSnap Home.

  • Cloud

    For the items that are displayed when [Cloud] is selected, refer to [Add new profile] Window (When Using ScanSnap Cloud).

Tag

This is displayed when [Mac (Manage in ScanSnap Home)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options].

Displays the tags that are set. Up to 10 tags can be set for one profile.

Setting tags enables you to sort and display content data records by tag with [Tag] in the folder list view on the main window.

  • To add a tag

    Enter a new tag in the input field that is displayed by clicking the [Add a tag] button, and then press the [Return] key on the keyboard.

    While you are entering a tag, a tag that is set for a profile or a tag that is set for a content data record may be displayed as a tag suggestion.

  • To delete a tag

    Click Delete Tag for a tag to be deleted.

Save to

Displays a path of the save destination where scanned images are to be saved.

Click the [Browse] button to change the save destination.

You can save scanned images in a cloud service by using a client application sync folder for the cloud service as the save destination.

Cloud services that you can establish a link with are as follows:

  • Dropbox

  • Google Drive

  • OneDrive

Application
Send to

Displays the selected application.

The following settings are available.

  • None (Scan to file)

    You can save an image in a folder without starting up any application.

  • Show with ScanSnap Home

    Starts up ScanSnap Home so that you can check content data records created from the documents that you scanned.

    This is displayed when [Mac (Manage in ScanSnap Home)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options].

  • Show with Finder

    Starts up Finder so that you can check images created from the documents that you scanned are saved.

    This is displayed when [Mac (Scan to file)] is selected for [Type] in [Managing options].

  • Quick Menu

    You can select an application to perform a particular action in the Quick Menu which is displayed after scanning documents.

  • Scan to Folder

    You can save image files in a specified folder.

    Files can be shared if they are saved onto a network folder.

    In the [Scan to Folder] Window that is displayed after a document is scanned, you can use Preview to check an image in order to change the orientation of pages or remove unnecessary pages before saving the image.

  • Send e-mail

    You can attach image files to an e-mail.

    In the [Scan to Email] Window that is displayed after a document is scanned, you can use Preview to check an image in order to change the orientation of pages or remove unnecessary pages before attaching it to an e-mail.

  • Scan to Print

    Scanned images can be printed with a printer.

  • Scan to Word

    You can convert an image that is in a PDF format into a Word file.

    This is displayed when ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap is installed.

    You can configure the settings such as the language of text to be recognized and settings for operations after the conversion in the setting window for the application that appears when you click the [Set] button.

    For details about the setting window for the application, refer to the ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap User's Guide.

  • Scan to Excel

    You can convert an image that is in a PDF format into an Excel file.

    This is displayed when ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap is installed.

    You can configure the settings such as the language of text to be recognized and settings for operations after the conversion in the setting window for the application that appears when you click the [Set] button.

  • Scan to PowerPoint(R)

    You can convert an image that is in a PDF format into a PowerPoint file.

    This is displayed when ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap is installed.

    You can configure the settings such as the language of text to be recognized and settings for operations after the conversion in the setting window for the application that appears when you click the [Set] button.

  • ABBYY Scan to Searchable PDF

    You can convert an image that is in a PDF format into a searchable PDF.

    This is displayed when ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap is installed.

    You can configure the settings such as the language of text to be recognized and settings for operations after the conversion in the setting window for the application that appears when you click the [Set] button.

  • Dropbox

    You can save image files in Dropbox.

  • Evernote

    You can save image files in Evernote.

  • Google Drive

    You can save image files in Google Drive.

  • OneDrive

    You can save image files in OneDrive.

  • Preview

    Preview starts up, and the image created from the document that you scanned is displayed.

  • Acrobat(R)

    Acrobat starts up, and the image created from the document that you scanned is displayed.

  • Acrobat(R) Reader(R)

    Acrobat Reader starts up, and the image created from the document that you scanned is displayed.

  • Power PDF

    If Kofax Power PDF Standard or Nuance Power PDF Standard is installed, the one installed will start up, and the image created from the document that you scanned is displayed.

  • PDF Converter

    If Nuance PDF Converter for Mac is installed, it will start up, and the image created from the document that you scanned is displayed.

  • Add or Remove

    An application of your choice can be added to or removed from the applications that you want to run.

[Set] button

Displays the setting window for the selected application.

When an application that does not have any setting item is selected, the [Set] button is disabled.

[Save] button

Updates the settings for the profile and synchronizes with the connected ScanSnap to close the window.

[Cancel] button

Closes the window without updating the settings for the profile.
