Selecting an Application to Be Used After Scanning Documents

After scanning documents with the ScanSnap, you can select an application to perform a particular action for scanned images, from the Quick Menu displayed on the computer.

  1. Open the ADF paper chute (cover) of the ScanSnap to turn the power on. Open the feed guide of the ScanSnap to turn the power on. Press the [Scan] or [Stop] button on the ScanSnap to turn the power on.

  2. Open the feed guide of the ScanSnap to turn the power on.

    • If you want the document to be ejected from the front of the ScanSnap or when there is not enough space where the document exits the ScanSnap, open the output guide.

  3. Pull the stacker towards you.

  4. Pull out the extension and the stacker on the ADF paper chute (cover). Pull out the extension on the ADF paper chute (cover) and open the stacker. Pull out the extension.

  5. Place the Background Pad on the front side of the ScanSnap.

  6. Click the [Scan] button in the upper left of the Main Window of ScanSnap Home to display the Scan Window.

    If the main window is not already displayed, click the [ScanSnap Home] icon ScanSnap Home Icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.

     

  7. Select [Quick Menu] from the profile list.
    HINT
    • If you want to modify the current profile in order to specify a folder to save a scanned image to after scanning a document, select [Quick Menu] for [Send to] in the [Edit profiles] Window.

    • If [Quick Menu] is not displayed in the profile list, create a new profile. When you create a new profile, select [Quick Menu] as a template profile.

      For details, refer to Creating a New Profile.

  8. Load the document in the ADF paper chute (cover) of the ScanSnap. Insert the document straight into the feeding section of the ScanSnap, with the scanning side facing up. Place the document in the scan area of the ScanSnap.

    Load the document face-down and head-first with the back facing you (when loading multiple documents, the last page is on the top). Adjust the number of documents so that they do not go beyond Mark That Indicates the Maximum Number of Documents to Be Loaded within the side guides when they are loaded.

    Make sure that the documents are fed into the ScanSnap and are held firmly.

  9. Align the side guides with both ends of the documents.

    Hold each side guide in the middle to adjust them. Otherwise, the documents may be fed skewed.

  10. Press the [Scan] button to scan the documents. Press the [Scan/Stop] button to start scanning the document. Press the [Scan] button to start scanning the document.

    To continue scanning, insert the next document to be scanned. When the document is inserted, scanning starts automatically.

    To continue scanning, place the next document to be scanned and press the [Scan] button.

    ATTENTION
    • Do not cover the white sheets on the ScanSnap with your hands or with something else while scanning documents. The color reproducibility of the scanned image will be affected.

    • Do not shake the table or desk when the ScanSnap is being used or move the documents while they are being scanned. Doing so may distort the scanned image or blur the color.

  11. Press the [Scan/Stop] button to finish scanning documents.
  12. Press the [Stop] button to finish scanning documents.
  13. Select a method to save scanned images in the [ScanSnap Home - Image scanning and file saving] window of ScanSnap Home.

    Select [Crop and save flat document images as-is] and then click the [Save this image] button.

    Select [Flat] and then click the [Save this image] button.

  14. When the Quick Menu appears, click the icon of an application for a scanned image that you want to perform a particular action on.

The application that you selected performs a particular action such as displaying the images created from the document that you scanned or saving the images in the folder or cloud service that you specified.

  • You can receive a notification on your computer about the document type for the content data records and the save destination for the scanned images after the scanning of documents is complete.
