Scanning Documents in Multiple Batches to Create a Single Scanned Image (iX1300)

[Scanning will not start if the inserted document is skewed] checkbox

Selecting this checkbox displays a message and cancels scanning if a skewed document is inserted into the manual feeder of the ScanSnap.

Selecting this option reduces damage to documents caused by feeding them skewed.

Depending on the skew or size of documents, some errors may not be detected.

This checkbox is selected by default.

    4. Click the [OK] button.
    5. Click the [OK] button to close the ScanSnap setup window.
  3. Load documents in the ADF paper chute (cover) or insert a document into the manual feeder.
    • When scanning documents all at once (U-turn Scan)
      1. If you are loading multiple sheets, check the number of sheets.

The maximum number of sheets in the ScanSnap is as follows:

For A4 or smaller sizes: Up to 20 sheets can be loaded (with paper weight of 80 g/m2 [20 lb] and thickness of the document stack under 2 mm [0.08 in.]).

        ATTENTION

If you try to scan more than the maximum amount that can be loaded, the following problems may occur:

        • Files cannot be properly created due to excessive file size.
        • Paper jams occur during scanning.
      2. Fan the documents.
        1. Hold both ends of the documents and fan them a few times.
          Fanning the Documents
        2. Rotate the documents by 90 degrees and fan them in the same manner.
      3. Straighten the edges of the documents and slightly displace the top edges at an angle.
        Straightening the Documents
        ATTENTION

Paper jams or damage to documents may occur if you scan the documents without aligning the edges first.

      4. Load documents in the ADF paper chute (cover).

Load the document face-up and head-first with the front facing you (when loading multiple documents, the first page is on the top).

      5. Align the side guides with both ends of the documents.

Hold each side guide in the middle to adjust them. When there is a space between the side guides and the documents, the documents may be fed skewed.

        ATTENTION
        • Make sure that the document support tab is open.

Otherwise, a paper jam may occur.

If the document support tab is closed, pull it up with your fingers.

Pulling up the Document Support Tab
        • If the document support tab comes off, refer to "Customer Support" in About Customer Support and Maintenance to inquire about the problem.
    • When scanning documents one by one (Return Scan)

Insert a document into the manual feeder.

Make sure that the document is fed into the ScanSnap and is held firmly.

      Inserting the Document
      ATTENTION

When you scan a document, the document comes out from the back of the ScanSnap.

Load documents in the ADF paper chute (cover) or insert a document into the manual feeder and then click the [Continue Scanning] button or press the [Scan] button on the ScanSnap.
