Scanning Multi-Layered Documents Such as Envelopes (iX1300)

The manual feeder of iX1300 enables you to scan documents that have overlapped areas such as envelopes, documents folded in half, and transfer paper.
ATTENTION

Scanning documents that have overlapped areas is only available for Return Scan, in which a document is inserted into the manual feeder and scanned.

For details about documents that can be scanned with Return Scan, refer to Documents That Can Be Loaded Directly into iX1300.

  1. Hold the right side of the ADF paper chute (cover) of the ScanSnap then open it or press the [Scan] button to turn it on.

Open the ADF paper chute (cover) fully so that the [Scan] button lights up in blue.

When the ADF paper chute (cover) is opened, the extension will rise automatically.

  2. Face the front side of a document (scanning side) upwards and insert the top end of the document straight into the middle of the manual feeder.
Make sure that the document is fed into the ScanSnap and is held firmly.

    ATTENTION

When you scan a document, the document comes out from the back of the ScanSnap.

Leave space (about the length of the document) at the back of the ScanSnap.

    HINT

You can scan a document with the ADF paper chute (cover) closed.

  3. Perform a scan.
    • To scan from ScanSnap Connect Application

Tap the [Scan] button on the [File List] screen or do the same thing on the folder screen with the ScanSnap Sync function set to on.

    • To scan from iX1300

Press the [Scan] button on iX1300.

To continue scanning, insert the next document to be scanned. When the document is inserted, scanning starts automatically.

A message appears indicating that the file is being received.

The received file will appear on the [File List] screen or the [Files] screen.

    HINT
    • When [Continuous Scan] is selected for [Feed] under [Scanning] in [Profile], after scanning is complete, a message appears asking you whether to continue scanning or not.

Load documents in iX1300. Then, tap the [Continue] button or press the [Scan] button on iX1300 to continue scanning.

To end the scan, tap the [Exit] button.

    • To start a scan manually by pressing the [Scan] button after inserting the document into the manual feeder, turn off [Start a scan automatically from the second document] in [Feed (Manual Feeder)] in [Profile].

    • To save the received file in the photo album, set [Save to photo album] to on (in the [File format] screen from [Profile]).

In the photo album, confirm that the image data meets your requirements.

    • To save the received file in the Files app, set [Save to the Files app] to on (in the [File format] screen from [Profile]).

In the Files app, confirm that the image data meets your requirements.

    • When the ScanSnap Sync function is set to on, the received file is uploaded to a synced cloud service automatically if you set [Auto Upload] to on in [ScanSnap Sync Setting] and an Internet connection is established.

  4. Tap the received file on the [File List] screen or the [Files] screen.

    The [Preview] screen appears.

  5. Confirm that the image data meets your requirements.
    HINT

You can send and view the received file in another application. When the ScanSnap Sync function is set to on, the received file can be uploaded to a cloud service.

ATTENTION
  • The scanned data will be discarded if you exit ScanSnap Connect Application during scanning.

  • When a notification occurs such as an e-mail alert, alarm or power shortage, a mobile device connected to iX1300 will be disconnected and scanning will be canceled.

In this case, you can keep the scanned data created before the disconnection, however, you cannot continue scanning the rest of the document.

  • Up to 1,000 pages can be created for a single PDF file.

  • Do not close the application while receiving a file. Doing so may slow down the next startup because the [File List] screen or the folder screen with the ScanSnap Sync function set to on takes time to reload.
