Configurable Items in [Profile] (iX1600/iX1500)

Profile items that can be reconfigured in ScanSnap Connect Application are as follows:

File format

File format

You can specify the file format in which the scanned image is saved.

  • PDF

Creates a PDF file (*.pdf) from the scanned image.

Up to 1,000 pages can be created for a single PDF file.

  • JPEG

Creates a JPEG file (*.jpg) from the scanned image.

JPEG files are created for each page.

JPEG option

You can specify whether or not to use the [Save together] option when [JPEG] is selected in [File format].

[Save together] checkbox

Select this checkbox and perform a scan to handle the received JPEG files virtually as a single file.

You can preview the files one by one on the [Preview] screen.

ATTENTION

When the ScanSnap Sync function is set to on, a file is displayed as a folder instead of a file if the file was created by selecting [Save together] checkbox and then uploaded to a cloud service. If you change the name of the folder on the client side of a cloud service, the folder may not be displayed as a file on ScanSnap Connect Application.

Filename

Filename

You can specify the format in which each file is automatically named when they are saved.

The date and time a scanned image is saved as a file or [Enter directly] can be selected for the format of the file name.

  • yyyy_MM_dd_HH_mm_ss

  • yyyy-MM-dd-HH-mm-ss

  • yyyyMMddHHmmss

  • MM_dd_yyyy_HH_mm_ss

  • MM-dd-yyyy-HH-mm-ss

  • MMddyyyyHHmmss

  • dd_MM_yyyy_HH_mm_ss

  • dd-MM-yyyy-HH-mm-ss

  • ddMMyyyyHHmmss

  • Enter directly

When you select [Enter directly], the [Enter directly] screen appears.

In the [Enter directly] screen, you can enter a file name of 50 characters or less.

If no name is entered, the file is named as "untitled".

If the same name already exists, the file name will be changed to "filename_nnn". "nnn" is the serial number.

Scanning

ATTENTION

The following items on the scanned image may differ between the case where the mobile device is directly connected to iX1600 or iX1500 and the case where it is connected to the computer.

  • Image quality

  • Recognized document colors

  • Detected blank pages

  • Detected paper size

Color Mode

The following color modes are available.

  • Auto

Automatically detects the color of each document and scans in color or gray.

  • Color

Always saves the scanned image as color.

  • Gray

Always saves the scanned image as gray.

  • B&W

Always saves the scanned image as black & white.

This option is available when [PDF] is selected for [File format].

Brightness (B&W)

Adjusts the brightness of black & white images in 11 levels when [B&W] is selected for [Color Mode].

The lower the number the lighter the image becomes; the higher the number the darker the image becomes.

Image Quality

The following image quality (resolution) levels are available.

  • Auto

Select this mode to scan documents at optimal resolution according to their paper size.

Documents are scanned in [Better] mode when the length is longer than 148 mm/5.83 in. (A6 portrait), and in [Best] mode when shorter than 148 mm/5.83 in. (A6 portrait). In addition, in [Auto] mode, the resolution is automatically determined by the length of the document.

Therefore, the quality of the saved images may vary depending on the orientation of the document that is loaded in iX1600 or iX1500.

For example, the image quality is automatically set to [Better] when you load an A5 size document in the feeding section of iX1600 or iX1500 in portrait orientation. The image quality is automatically set to [Best] when you load the document in landscape orientation.

  • Normal

Select this mode to scan documents quickly.

  • Better

Select this mode to scan documents in high quality.

  • Best

Select this mode to scan documents in higher quality than [Better].

Scanning Side

The following scan sides are available.

  • Duplex Scan

Scans both sides of the document.

  • Simplex Scan

Scans only one side of the document.

Feed

Select a feeding method for scanning.

  • Normal Scan

Scans documents loaded in the ADF paper chute (cover) of iX1600 or iX1500 at a time.

  • Continuous Scan

    Scans documents continuously.

Select this feeding method to scan a number of documents that is larger than the number of documents that can be loaded in the ADF paper chute (cover) of iX1600 or iX1500.

Every time the scanning of a document that is loaded in ADF paper chute (cover) of iX1600 or iX1500 is finished, a feeding method can be changed on the touch panel of iX1600 or iX1500.

When you scan the following documents, press the feed mode setting icon in the lower right of the screen for continuing a scan on the touch panel of iX1600 or iX1500 to select [Manual scan] for [Feed].

    • Documents folded in half

    • Envelopes

    • Documents with sticky notes attached

    • Multi-layered documents such as transfer paper

    • Long page documents such as long receipts

    • Plastic cards

  • Manual Scan

Scans documents by loading one document at a time.

Select this feeding method to scan documents such as photographs that can be damaged quite easily, multi-layered documents such as envelopes, or documents that are larger than A4 size documents and are folded in half.

Every time the scanning of a document that is loaded in ADF paper chute (cover) of iX1600 or iX1500 is finished, a feeding method can be changed on the touch panel of iX1600 or iX1500.

When you scan multiple documents such as office paper and so on, press the feed mode setting icon in the lower right of the screen for continuing a scan on the touch panel of iX1600 or iX1500 to select [Continuous scan] for [Feed].

When [Continuous Scan] or [Manual Scan] is selected, a message appears asking you whether to continue scanning or not after completing the scan of the document that you loaded in iX1600 or iX1500.

When [Continuous Scan] is selected, load documents in iX1600 or iX1500, and then press the [Continue] button or the [Scan] button on the touch panel to continue scanning.

When [Manual Scan] is selected, load documents in iX1600 or iX1500 to continue scanning.

To end the scan, press the [Exit] button on ScanSnap Connect Application or press the [Finish] button on the touch panel.

[Skip blank page] checkbox

Select this checkbox to remove blank pages from the output images automatically.

For example, if you specify "Duplex Scan" to scan a document with contents on only one side, only the image on this side will be saved because this option removes blank pages (the other side).

[Reduce bleed-through] checkbox

Select this checkbox to reduce bleed-through on document where text and/or illustrations can bleed or seep through to the other side.

ATTENTION

Selecting this checkbox may produce image data where:

  • colors of the marked section(s) are faded

  • the marked section(s) disappear

  • the lines are thinner than in the original

Paper

Paper size

You can set the paper sizes that are available for scanning with iX1600 or iX1500.

The following paper sizes are available:

  • Auto

  • A4

  • A5

  • A6

  • B5 (JIS)

  • B6 (JIS)

  • PostCard

  • Business card

  • Letter

  • Legal

[Multifeed] checkbox

Select this checkbox to detect a multifeed error (multiple sheets scanned at once).

If the scanner senses an overlapping of documents, the scanner detects this as a multifeed error.

File size

Compression rate

Adjusts the compression rate in five levels when an item other than [B&W] is selected for [Color Mode].

The larger this value is, the higher the compression rate becomes, and noise in the image is more visible.

On the contrary, the smaller the value is, the lower the rate becomes, and the noise is less visible.

Destination

ScanSnap folder

Set as the default destination for saving scanned images.

Specify destination

The [Specify destination] screen appears where you can save the file in.

ATTENTION

For Android 11 or later, scanned images cannot be saved in the destination that you specified.

To save a scanned image file in a folder other than [ScanSnap folder], move the file to the folder.

For details, refer to Moving a File to Another Folder (the [File List] Screen or the Folder Screen with the ScanSnap Sync Function Set to On) or Moving the File to Another Folder (the [Preview] Screen).

ATTENTION

When the ScanSnap Sync function is set to on, a file is not synced if the file was received by setting [Destination] to a folder other than [ScanSnap folder].
