A "Failed to add or update the profile." Message is Displayed

If a "Failed to add or update the profile." message is displayed when trying to add or update a profile configured to save scanned images directly from the ScanSnap to a network folder, refer to the subsequent message and take appropriate measures.

When a "Check the following:" message is displayed

Displayed message

Failed to add or update the profile.

Check the following:

  • Whether the user name, password, and domain are correct.

  • Whether you have permission to access the specified folder.

If this message is still displayed even after you took appropriate measures while referring to the subsequent message, check the following.

  • Is UPN format used as the authentication method for connecting to the network folder specified as the save destination?

Authenticating using UPN format is not supported. Use another authentication method or server for the network folder specified as the save destination.

For details, refer to System Requirements for Network Folders That Can Be Directly Connected to the ScanSnap.

  • Are you using lowercase multi-byte characters for the user name used to connect to the network folder specified as the save destination?

An error may occur when lowercase multi-byte characters are used for the user name.

The problem may be solved by using uppercase multi-byte characters.

When a "The specified network folder could not be accessed." message is displayed

Displayed message

Failed to add or update the profile. The specified network folder could not be accessed.

Check the following:

  • Are you using NAS or a network storage that is only compatible with SMB 1.0/CIFS?

When using NAS or a network storage that is only compatible with SMB 1.0/CIFS, enable SMB 1.0/CIFS on the ScanSnap.

However, it is recommended that SMB 1.0/CIFS is disabled due to a serious security vulnerability. Use SMB 1.0/CIFS at your own risk.

For details about the procedure for enabling this setting on the ScanSnap, refer to the following:

    1. Press Settings in the home screen on the touch panel of the ScanSnap to display the [Settings] screen.

    2. Press Wi-Fi settings to display the [Wi-Fi settings] screen.

    3. Press [Scan to Network Folder] to display the [Scan to Network Folder] screen.

    4. Press [SMB 1.0/CIFS], then enable the setting on the displayed screen.

  • Is the connection to the network folder of the save destination blocked by a firewall? (Windows)

Allow a connection with the port number used for saving scanned images directly from the ScanSnap to a network folder in the Windows Firewall settings.

Port number for saving scanned images directly from the ScanSnap to a network folder: 445

For details, refer to To Allow Connection with Port Numbers in the Firewall Settings.

  • Is the environment of the destination network folder supported by ScanSnap Home?

Check whether the environment of the network folder specified as a save destination is supported by ScanSnap Home.

For details, refer to System Requirements for Network Folders That Can Be Directly Connected to the ScanSnap.

  • Is the user account for connecting to the network folder specified as the save destination locked?

If your account is locked, access to the save destination will fail because the network credentials cannot be authenticated.

Unlock your account before adding or updating a profile.

When a "Turn the ScanSnap off and on again, check the status of the save destination, then try again." message is displayed
