The Image Is Wider than the Scanned Document

Causes and solutions for the image being wider than the scanned document when using the ScanSnap to scan a document are explained below.
Cause

The issue may be caused by the following:

  • [Auto] is set for [Document size].

When you select [Auto] for [Document size] in the [Scan settings] screen, an image is output in the same size as the document by detecting the edges of the document.

Therefore, failure to correctly detect document edges may result in output of the image with the maximum width.

  • The rollers or glass inside the ScanSnap are dirty.

Solution

  • When [Auto] is set for [Document size]

In the [Scan settings] screen, select the same size as the document in [Document size].

    ATTENTION

When a document size other than [Auto] is selected for [Document size] in the [Scan settings] screen, place the document against the left side of the feeding section of the ScanSnap.

  • When the rollers or glass inside the ScanSnap are dirty

Clean the inside of the ScanSnap.

For details, refer to Cleaning the Inside of the ScanSnap in ScanSnap Cloud Operation.
