ScanSnap Cloud Settings Window ([File name] Tab)

Use the ScanSnap Cloud application to set the file naming rule for scanned images.

The ScanSnap Cloud settings window ([File name] tab) consists of the following items:

File naming rule
[Name files automatically]

Automatically extracts the document type and a character string that is included in the document, and names a scanned image with the character string.

The items to be extracted vary depending on the document type.

Select the items to be extracted from the document in the window that is displayed when the [Details] button is clicked.

ATTENTION
  • In the following cases, a character string may not be extracted correctly:

    • Documents with many decorated characters

      Example: Embossed or outlined characters

    • Documents with characters on a patterned or colored background

Example: Characters overlapping illustrations and diagrams

    • Documents with characters that are located near illustrations or lines

    • Documents with a few characters

    • Documents that are faded or dirty

If a character string is not extracted correctly, select another file name or manually change the file name on the window for changing a file name.

For details, refer to Changing the File Name of a Scanned Image.

  • If the language for an extracted character string and the language for a document are not the same, manually change the file name on the window for changing a file name.

[Details] button

Clicking this button opens a window in which you can change the setting for the file name that is created automatically.

You can set the items to be extracted from a document and the order in which extracted items are shown in a file name.

This button is enabled when a document type is detected as a document, business card, or receipt.

If the specified items are not extracted, a file is named with the names of the items.
Example:

For a document with [Date] and [Title] set as the items to be extracted from the document

(Date)_(Title).pdf

[Use scanned date instead] checkbox

Selecting this checkbox names a file with the date when it was scanned even if the date is included in the contents of a document.

This setting is enabled when a document type is a document or receipt, or when a document type is not determined.

[Use scanned date]

Names a file with the scanned date. The date format can be specified in [Date format].

[Customize file names]

Names a file with the characters that you enter. If a file with the same name exists, a serial number is added to the file name.

Date format

Specify a format for the date that is added to a file name.

This option is enabled when [Name files automatically] or [Use scanned date] is specified.

  • yyyyMMdd

  • yyyy-MM-dd

  • yyyy_MM_dd

[Include hr/min/sec] checkbox

Selecting this checkbox allows you to select the following formats:

  • yyyyMMddHHmmss

  • yyyy-MM-dd-HH-mm-ss

  • yyyy_MM_dd_HH_mm_ss

Language of document

Set the language of a document that the character string is extracted from.

If you select [Auto], priority is given to the language for the region that is specified when you create an account for the ScanSnap Cloud service.

This setting is enabled when a document type is detected as a document, business card, or receipt, or when a document type is not determined.
