Configuring the Wi-Fi Settings

Use ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool to configure the Wi-Fi settings for the ScanSnap.

With the ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool, you can set the following:

  • Connecting the ScanSnap to a wireless access point

  • Setting an IP address and scanner name for the ScanSnap

  • Setting an IP address, scanner name, and password for the ScanSnap

  • Configuring the settings required for connecting the ScanSnap to a computer

  • Checking the connection between the ScanSnap and a computer or mobile device

  • Diagnosing the communication status between the ScanSnap and a wireless access point

  • Checking network information such as network name (SSID) and MAC address

  • Initializing the Wi-Fi settings

  • Registering the computer to which the ScanSnap will be connected via Wi-Fi

  • Obtaining the computer's Wi-Fi settings and configuring them for the ScanSnap

  • Configuring a DNS server

  • Configuring a proxy server

  • Configuring the Wi-Fi settings so that Direct Connect mode is used

  • Changing the wireless mode

  • Enabling roaming

  • Configuring the frequency of the connection

  • Registering multiple destinations

  • Registering a client certificate or CA certificate

ATTENTION
  • The ScanSnap cannot be connected with two or more computers or mobile devices at the same time.

  • If there are two types of SSID (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) for a wireless access point, use the 2.4 GHz SSID.

  1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.

    For details, refer to To Display the Main Window.

  2. Select [Settings] in the menu [Preferences] to display the preferences window.
  3. Select the ScanSnap that is currently connected to the computer from the list of ScanSnap units in [Scanner information] that is located in the [Scanner] tab.

  4. Click the [Wireless setup] button to start ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool.

    Refer to the ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool Help, and configure the Wi-Fi settings for the ScanSnap.

    If ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool cannot be started up even though the ScanSnap is connected with a computer via a USB cable, refer to The ScanSnap and a Computer Cannot Be Connected via a USB Cable and take measures accordingly.

  1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.

    Click the [ScanSnap Home] icon ScanSnap Home Icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.

  2. Select [ScanSnap Home] on the menu bar [Preferences] to display the preferences window.
  3. Select the ScanSnap that is currently connected to the computer from the list of ScanSnap units in [Scanner information] that is located in the [Scanner] tab.

  4. Click the [Wireless setup] button to start ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool.
