Connecting the ScanSnap to a computer or mobile device

Select one of the following Wi-Fi connect mode to connect the ScanSnap to a computer or mobile device via Wi-Fi. Select a connection method depending on the environment where you use the ScanSnap.

Specify the Wi-Fi connect mode on the touch panel of the ScanSnap.

Access point connection

The ScanSnap can be connected to a computer or mobile device via a wireless access point.

You need to connect the ScanSnap to the same wireless access point as a computer or mobile device.

Direct connection

Connect the ScanSnap to a computer or mobile device directly without using a wireless access point.

The ScanSnap transmits the network name (SSID) instead of a wireless access point. To connect a computer or mobile device to the ScanSnap directly via Wi-Fi, establish a connection with the network name (SSID) of the ScanSnap from the Wi-Fi settings on a computer or mobile device.

You can check the information, such as the network name (SSID) and the security key that are required for establishing a direct connection, on the touch panel of the ScanSnap.

Establish a direct connection when the connection environment is one of the following:

  • You cannot establish a connection to a wireless access point

  • The connection to the wireless access point is unstable

  • The privacy separator function of a wireless access point cannot be disabled in the public wireless LAN environment of the public facilities

  • You are in an environment where wireless devices cannot communicate with each other, such as a security protected wireless network

Note that the ScanSnap does not have a wireless access point function or a router function. Therefore, a computer or mobile device that is connected to the ScanSnap cannot be connected to the Internet or other devices via Wi-Fi.
