Connecting the ScanSnap and the Computer Via a Specified Wireless Access Point

To connect the ScanSnap and a computer via Wi-Fi, you need to connect the ScanSnap and the computer to the same wireless access point. From the list of wireless access points detected by the ScanSnap, select a wireless access point, and connect the ScanSnap to the wireless access point.

After you connect the ScanSnap and the wireless access point, use ScanSnap Home to connect the ScanSnap and the computer.

  1. Press Settings in the home screen on the touch panel of the ScanSnap to display the [Settings] screen.
  2. Press Wi-Fi settings to display the [Wi-Fi settings] screen.
  3. Press [Wi-Fi connect mode] to display the [Wi-Fi connect mode] screen.
  4. Select [Access point connection].
  5. Press Back to return to the [Wi-Fi settings] screen.
  6. Press [Access point connection] to display the [Access point connection] screen.
  7. Press [Access point connect settings] to display the [Connection information configuration method] screen.
  8. Select [Select an access point].
  9. Press the [Next] button to display the [Select network] screen.
  10. From the list of displayed wireless access points, select a wireless access point that you want to connect to.
  11. Press the [Next] button to display the [Enter connection information] screen.
  12. Enter the information of the wireless access point to be used and press the [Next] button.

    The items which are displayed in the screen differ depending on the security protocol of the wireless access point.

    • To perform the authentication with a security key

      Press the input field for [Security key] and enter the user name, and then press [OK].

    • To perform the authentication with a client certificate

      Press [Client certificate] and select the certificate to be used.

      HINT
      • To check the details about the certificate, press the [Certificate] button.

    • To perform the authentication with a user ID and a password

      Press the input field and enter a value for [User ID] and [Password] respectively, and then press [OK].

    • To perform the authentication with an external ID

      Press the input field for [External ID], enter the external ID, and press [OK].

  13. Press the [Complete] button in the [Check Connection Results] screen.
  14. Press Home to display the home screen.
  15. Press Settings to display the [Settings] screen.
  16. Check the scanner name of the ScanSnap.
    1. Press Scanner settings to display the [Scanner settings] screen.
    2. Check the scanner name that is displayed in [Scanner name].

      Take a note of the scanner name in case you forget it.

    3. Press Home to display the home screen.
  17. Click the [Scan] button in the Main Window of ScanSnap Home to display the Scan Window.

    If the main window is not already displayed, refer to To Display the Main Window.

    Mac OS

    If the main window is not already displayed, click the [ScanSnap Home] icon ScanSnap Home Icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.

     

  18. Select [Add a ScanSnap] from the [Select a scanner] list.
  19. In the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window, select the ScanSnap model to be connected and then click the [Start setup] button.
  20. In the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Connection with the ScanSnap), select the scanner name of the ScanSnap to be connected, and click the [Next] button.
    HINT
    • When an IP address is set for the ScanSnap, you can connect the ScanSnap to a computer by specifying the IP address.

      Specify the IP address for the ScanSnap to be connected in the window that appears when you click [Using an IP address].

  21. When the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Connection is complete) appears, click the [Next] button.
  22. When the [ScanSnap Home - Connecting ScanSnap] window (Let's use it!) appears, check the contents and click the [Close] button.

The computer and the ScanSnap are connected via Wi-Fi using the same wireless access point.

Windows
  • You can also connect the ScanSnap by clicking the [Add] button under [Scanner information] in the [Scanner] tab of the preferences window. To remove the ScanSnap that you do not need, select the ScanSnap from the list of ScanSnap units and click the [Remove] button. It is also removed from the [Select a scanner] list in the scan window.

    To display the preferences window, select [Settings] [Preferences] from the menu.

Mac OS
  • You can also connect the ScanSnap by clicking the [Add] button under [Scanner information] in the [Scanner] tab of the preferences window. To remove the ScanSnap that you do not need, select the ScanSnap from the list of ScanSnap units and click the [Remove] button. It is also removed from the [Select a scanner] list in the scan window.

    To display the preferences window, select [ScanSnap Home] [Preferences] in the menu bar.
