Modifying Meta Information

Manually modify meta information in a content data record that is to be managed with ScanSnap Home.

Meta information is the information in a content data record, which is displayed in the content data record view in the main window.

The items which are managed in ScanSnap Home as meta information are as follows:

Meta Information That Is Managed in ScanSnap Home

Basic information

  • Document type

  • Title

  • Scanned date/time

  • Date modified

  • File type

  • Searchable PDF (*1)

  • File size

  • Pages

  • Save destination

  • Password (Windows) (*1)

  • Associated application

Document information

  • Memo

  • Document date (*2)

Business card information

  • Name

  • Company

  • Department

  • Job title

  • ZIP/Postal code

  • Address

  • Location/Region

  • Phone number

  • Fax Number

  • Mobile phone

You can select multiple content data records with the same document type, and modify the meta information items for all the selected content data records at once.

Windows

  1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.

    For details, refer to To Display the Main Window.

  2. In the content data record list view, select a content data record that you want to modify the meta information of.
  3. Click Right Arrow for a meta information title in the content data record view.

    If the content data record view is not displayed, click Show/Hide Content Data Record View on the toolbar.

    The displayed meta information titles differ depending on the document type of the selected content data record.

  4. Click the input field of the item to be edited to make the meta information editable.
  5. Modify meta information.
  6. Press the [Enter] key on the keyboard.

The meta information in the content data record is modified.

HINT
  • If you change meta information to modify the results of the text recognition, when the same results of the text recognition are detected in the following content data records, meta information is automatically corrected.

    • A content data record created from a document that you scanned in the past two weeks and also managed in ScanSnap Home

    • A content data record that is to be created from a new document that you scan

  • The meta information items which are displayed in gray are not editable.

Mac OS

  1. Display the Main Window of ScanSnap Home.

    Click the [ScanSnap Home] icon ScanSnap Home Icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.

  2. In the content data record list view, select a content data record that you want to modify the meta information of.
  3. Click Right Arrow for a meta information title in the content data record view.

    If the content data record view is not displayed, click Show/Hide Content Data Record View on the toolbar.

    The displayed meta information titles differ depending on the document type of the selected content data record.

  4. Click the input field of the item to be edited to make the meta information editable.
  5. Modify meta information.
  6. Press the [Return] key on the keyboard.

The meta information in the content data record is modified.

HINT
  • If you change meta information to modify the results of the text recognition, when the same results of the text recognition are detected in the following content data records, meta information is automatically corrected.
