A Wireless Access Point Cannot Be Set to the ScanSnap.

Causes and solutions for when a wireless access point cannot be set to the ScanSnap during the ScanSnap Cloud application setup are explained below.
Cause
  • The setting value for the network name (SSID), security type (authentication method), or security key is incorrect.

  • The communication authorization settings are configured on the wireless access point.

  • IEEE 802.1X authentication is used.

The setting of the certificate for the ScanSnap may be needed.

  • A proxy server is used for the Internet connection.

Solution
  • When any one of the setting values is incorrect

Match the setting values with the settings for the wireless access point. If you do not know the network name (SSID) or security key, refer to the manuals of your wireless access point, or contact the manufacturer.

  • When the communication authorization settings are configured on the wireless access point

Perform one of the following depending on the setting:

    • When the communication between wireless devices is disabled (by using a function such as the privacy separator function or the port separator function)

Enable the communication between wireless devices.

    • When the SSID broadcast, such as ANY connection, is disabled

Enable the SSID broadcast on the wireless access point. Or, configure the wireless settings manually.

    • When the protocol filter function is configured

Configure the protocol on the wireless access point.

    • When the stealth function is configured

Disable the stealth function, and then configure the wireless settings again using the WPS function. Or, configure the wireless settings manually.

    • When MAC address filtering is configured

Set the MAC address for the ScanSnap on the wireless access point, and then configure the wireless settings again.

In addition, the set channel may be used with another wireless access point.

In this case, change the value of the wireless channel on the wireless access point.

For details about the settings of the wireless access point, refer to your wireless access point manual.

  • When IEEE 802.1X authorization is used

If the setting of the certificate for the ScanSnap is needed, the ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool that is bundled with ScanSnap Manager is required.

Start the ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool and configure the wireless settings by following the Wireless Network Setup Wizard. For details, refer to "Connecting the ScanSnap and a Computer or Mobile Device with the Specified Wireless LAN" in the ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool Help. After configuring the settings, continue the setup in the ScanSnap Cloud application.

For details about how to start the ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool, refer to Unsure How to Start the ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool..

In addition, contact your network administrator to check the following:

    • Whether the wireless settings are the same as the settings on the authentication server

    • Whether the network environment for the authentication server is normal

    • Whether the authentication server and the wireless access point are connected correctly

    • Whether the certificate is valid

      Example:

Whether the certificate has not been revoked, whether it has not been expired, or whether the CN (CommonName) for the certificate is shorter than 64 bytes if the authentication method is "EAP-TLS"

  • When a proxy server is used for the Internet connection

Configure the settings of the proxy server in the setup procedure.
