[File naming rule] Screen
The [File naming rule] screen consists of the following items:
- Name files automatically
Extracts a document type and a character string that is included in a document, and automatically specifies a file name for the image.
The items to be extracted vary depending on the document type.
The language to be extracted is the one that is specified in the [Language of document] Screen.
The items to be extracted from a document can be specified in the [Specify items to be extracted] Screen which appears when you tap [Specify items to be extracted].
ATTENTIONIn the following cases, a character string and a date may not be extracted correctly:
Documents with many decorated characters
Example: Embossed or outlined characters
Documents with characters on a patterned or colored background
Example: Characters overlapping illustrations and diagrams
Documents with characters that are located near illustrations or lines
Documents with a few characters
Documents that are faded or dirty
If a character string and a date are not extracted correctly, select another file name on the screen for changing a file name, or change the file name manually.

If the language for an extracted character string and date, and the language for a document are not the same, change the file name manually on the screen for changing a file name.
- Use scanned date
Names a file with the scanned date.
- Customize file names
Names a file with the specified string.
If there are multiple files with the same name, a three-digit serial number is automatically added to the end of the specified string.
For example, if you specify "ScanSnap" for [Prefix string], files are named as follows:
ScanSnap_001, ScanSnap_002, ScanSnap_003...
- Specify items to be extracted
Tapping this shows the [Specify items to be extracted] Screen.
You can set the items to be extracted from a document and the order in which extracted contents are shown in the file name.
This option is shown when you specify [Name files automatically].
- Date format
Tapping this shows the [Date format] Screen.
Specify a date format that is used for a file name.
This option is shown when you specify [Name files automatically] or [Use scanned date].
- Always use the scanned date.
Setting this option to on, a scanned date is used for the date in a file name.
If you want to extract the date from the content of a document, set this option to off.
This option is shown when you specify [Name files automatically].
- Language of document
Tapping this shows the [Language of document] Screen.
Set the language of a document that the character string and date are extracted from.
This option is shown when you specify [Name files automatically].
- Prefix string
Tapping this shows the [Prefix string] screen.
Specify the prefix string that is used at the beginning of a file name with 64 characters or less, tap [Done].
This option is shown when you specify [Customize file names].
