Modify the Level of Background Removal for a Photo Image

The background of a photo image of a document that was taken with the ScanSnap Cloud application's camera function can be removed and corrected so that the text on the image is more visible. The level of the background removal can be modified.
ATTENTION

The background cannot be corrected under the following conditions:

  • When the document type is [Photos]

  1. Tap the thumbnail in the lower left of the photo-taking mode screen.

The photo images are shown in the list on the [List of Photos] screen.

  2. In the [List of photos] screen, tap the photo image that you want to display.

The preview of the image is shown.

  3. Tap Background Removal on the lower left of the screen.
  4. Select one of the following for the level of the background removal.
    • [Background removal (High)]

The background of the document comes out white (at a higher level).

    • [Background removal (Low)]

The background of the document comes out white (at a lower level).

    • [No removal]

      The background is not corrected.

By default, it is set to [Background removal (High)].

    HINT

When the level of the background removal is set to high, the text recognition process may fail while a photo image is being converted to a searchable PDF file.

When you select [Background removal (High)] or [Background removal (Low)], the background is corrected at the selected level.

    ATTENTION

If the file size of an image exceeds 10 MB after an operation is performed to remove the background, the background does not get removed.
