Q7 I would like to use a scanner to import documents into Rack2-Filer. What scanners does Rack2-Filer support?

Rack2-Filer supports TWAIN driver supporting FUJITSU scanners (see Note1) as well as ScanSnap scanners.

Q9 Can I use Rack2-Filer when I switch the displayed language using "Regional and Language Options" on the control panel? Furthermore, does Rack2-Filer support displayed languages when they have been changed in Windows® MUI?
A9 No. Rack2-Filer only supports the language that the operating system was installed in.

Q11 What are the cautions for use in Windows® 7?
A11 The following problems occur when using Rack2-Filer in Windows® 7. (Note1)
  1. When the left and right pages of an open binder are contents pages, and the edge of a page is clicked, there is a delayed response.
  2. For the following operations, if the Rack2-Filer data is specified directly under the system drive (For example: C drive), saved data may not be viewable in explorer.
    • [Export Binder] for a binder from Rack2-Filer
    • [Export] for a binder in Rack2-Viewer
    • [Save As] in Rack2-WorkArea
  3. If the display resolution is 800 X 600, part of the Raku2 ImageWriter settings screen is not displayed.
  4. In the [Rack2-Viewer Settings] window of Rack2-Viewer, a PDF file attachment cannot be set in the Rack2-Viewer window.
  5. When creating key text blocks, the operation cannot be cancelled while in progress because the [Extracting Text] dialog box is hidden.

Use one of the following methods to jump to a page.
  • Jump to a page by clicking an item in a contents page
  • Click on the edge of a page when the left and right pages are not contents pages
  • Jump to a page from the [Jump to Selected Page] dialog box
  • Jump to a page by entering the page number in the page range input field

Method

Do not set the save destination for Rack2-Filer data as directly under the system drive (for example: C drive).
If data is already saved directly under the system drive, the data is saved to the following location according to the OS default settings. Move the data to another folder.
C:/Users/[username]/AppData/Local/VirtualStore
This folder can be accessed from the explorer [Compatibility files] menu.


3 If the display resolution is 800 X 600, some of the Raku2 ImageWriter settings screen cannot be displayed.
Prevention
Method

Since this problem is unique to Windows® 7, change the position of the taskbar display by the following setting method.
Select [Control Panel] - [Customize the Start menu].
The [Taskbar and Start Menu Properties] dialog box will open. For "Taskbar location on screen", select "Left" or "Right", and click [OK].

4 In the [Rack2-Viewer Settings] window of Rack2-Viewer, Rack2-Viewer cannot be set for "Windows should open PDF files using the...".

5 When creating key text blocks, the operation cannot be cancelled while in progress because the [Extracting Text] dialog box is hidden.

  2. Importing PDF files may fail.
  3. A PDF file created with Raku2 ImageWriter and having more than one page may not be displayed with "Reader", a pre-installed application of Windows® 8.
  4. The Rack2 Folder Monitor Software status, such as the start and end of importing files, is not notified.
  5. If the display resolution is 800 x 600 pixels or less, part of the window may not appear on the screen and thus some buttons cannot be clicked with a mouse.
  6. In the [Rack2-Viewer Settings] window of Rack2-Viewer, a PDF file cannot be associated with the Rack2-Viewer.

Display the menu bar by right-clicking on the Start window and select "All apps" to divide the program icons into groups. Use in this state.

Depending on the application(*) associated with PDF files, the following error message may appear and importing PDF files may fail if the PDF files were not output by Rack2-Filer or were not scanned by ScanSnap.

To avoid the problem, change the setting of the application associated with the PDF files and then import the PDF files again by following the procedure below;

  1. Install an application having the print function of PDF files. (Adobe® Acrobat® or Adobe® Reader® is recommended)
  2. Set the application installed in Step 1 for the associated application.
    Open the explorer and select any PDF file. Then, right-click it to display the menu. Select "Open With -> Choose default program..."
  3. The "How do you want to open this file?" screen appears. Then, tick the "Use this app for all .pdf files" check box and select the application installed in Step 1.
